Projects Elana conducted a literature review of L’Hoest’s monkey ecology and completed a project on L’Hoest’s monkey plant foods at Kanyawara, Kibale National Park, Uganda, which she presented at the American Association of Biological Anthropologists’ Committee on Diversity (COD) Undergraduate Symposium in 2026 in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Bryer got her PhD at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) and the New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology. She then was a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of California, Berkeley, in cognitive science. Projects Griffyn received the Hilldale Undergraduate/Faculty Research Fellowship in 2026 to study risk taking by chacma baboons in Nature’s Valley, South Africa, and to collaborate with the NGO NVT’s Urban Conservancy to better understand baboon attractants in residential areas.
Sophia received her BA in Anthropology (biological concentration) from Temple University in Pennsylvania. Her research interests are in non-human primate behavioral ecology, focusing on nutrition and energetic trade-offs.

Projects Sabiiti Richard is an expert in redtail monkey (Cercopithecus ascanius) diet and behavior, as well as in Ugandan birds. As part of the Guenon Social Nutrition field team, Sabiiti collects behavioral data on L’Hoest’s monkeys and redtail monkeys and collects and processes plant food samples for nutritional analyses.
Projects Lisa is a field assistant for the Nature’s Valley Baboon Project in 2026, collecting behavioral and ranging data on chacma baboons in Nature’s Valley, South Africa, generating monthly reports for the local community, and training and managing short-term students working on baboon-related projects.
